Oenological Tannin

High molecular weight Ellagic Tannins, manufactured from tannins extracted from chestnut wood (Castanea sativa).

100% soluble in cold water and no rehydrating before.

TAN Cis extracted mainly hot water from wood. It is a very active tannin, it preserves aromas of both white and red wines. It's reccomanded for each stage of Fermentation and early maturation.

The strict hygienic and environmental control, to which the process is subjected and the non-use of chemical and biological products in extraction, make TAN C, a very natural product.

TAN C addition allows:

  • proteins precipitation in solution
  • oxidizing enzymes inactivation, tyrosinase and laccase in particular
  • Bacterial development Control
  • dab the redox potential of must and wine, stabilizing it in an optimal range for fermentation and aging • Natural color Protection of wine.

It is a completely natural and efficient system to complete the action of SO2, avoiding problems related to its deficient or excessive dosage.

It is used at the beginning of the fermentation of red wines, together with SO2 to reduce the quantity and complete the action. It is particularly useful with botrytised grapes; in this case we recommend the dosage even before crushing.

2 - 20 g/hl (76 – 1900 oz/1000 gal)

Dissolve one part TAN C into 10 parts water or wine, stirring continuously. Add the resulting solution to the wine or must during pumping over, using a Venturi tube or proportioning pump.

It is the customer's Liability to ensure that the use of tannin and the applied dosages comply with laws and regulations governing use in the finished product for which it is used.

Of course, the integrity of the product is guaranteed only if it is stored as indicated in this technical data sheet.

TAN C is GMO free and allergen free.

6. Packaging and storage conditions

1 kg (2,204 lb) and 10 kg (22,04 lb) plastic jar/sachet.

This product maintains its quality standards for a period of three years, provided it is kept at room temperature in a sealed package.

Storage in a refrigerated environment further extends the life of the product.

Prolonged exposure to temperatures exceeding 35°C (95°F), and/or to humidity and oxygen reduces its efficacy.
